Mission Overview
Game Overview Game Story
Copper Jacket is an action-shooter NES game that supports 1-2 simultaneous players. This is a challenging game, so be ready for a fight!

Alert! Your former boss -- Commander Zaslavsky -- has kidnapped your wife-to-be in an attempt to make you do his dirty work. Your mission is to defeat this sinister commander and rescue the love of your life. Your best mate, Anatoly, has agreed to help you on your mission. You may really need his help as the journey will be rife with many challenges and obstacles to overcome. Zaslavsky has many men under his command as well as many war machines at his disposal. You must navigate through his defenses to reach his command center that rests atop a snowy mountain – it is here in which your beloved one is being held hostage. In addition to overseeing a powerful army, Zaslavsky is rather manipulative, so you should be cautious if he tries to communicate with you on your radio.
Features:
Game Play
  • Up to 2 simultaneous players
  • 5 worlds -- 13 levels in total
  • Lots of enemies
  • World Bosses
  • Upgrade weapons
  • Short cut-scenes between worlds

You play as a renegade combat expert who sports a military grade rifle and carries with him a lot of heavy bombs. Luckily for you, you are equipped with plenty of ammunition and do not need to worry about running out. Your main weapon – the rifle – is an excellent projectile weapon that has a good amount of range and your bombs, while not having much range, can be used tactically to eliminate certain enemies who may appear behind you when your back is turned. In addition to these weapons there are several weapon upgrades that you can get on your journey, such as the flamethrower, rapid fire, shotgun and the bazooka. Use these items to your advantage -- but be warned -- if you take damage from a foe, you will lose your weapon upgrade.

This game features five different worlds, each having their own challenges. You'll have to use your skills to overcome each of the unique challenges that each stage presents. The progression system in this game allows you to continue each stage until you pass it -- there is no life system that kicks you back to the start of the game. Also, if you need more backup, have a friend join the game in two player mode! If one player dies, then other can continue. If both players die, the stage will reset and both players will respawn. In any case you'll need to be in good shape to get through each world as there is a boss to take down at the end of each area.
Technical Details

The ROM for this game was programmed at the assembly level -- it is not written in a high level language. It is 64k (32K program ROM and 32k character ROM) in ROM size, making it a rather small game. Its mirroring is horizontal as the game only scrolls vertically. In addition to this, the game uses a CNROM mapper (mapper 3). This a very simple mapper, making this game compatible with many different emulators and flash cartridges; that said, bank swapping is used heavily in this game. This is due to the fact that many data tables for objects and the environment are stored in character ROM, so be sure your emulator supports this. If your system is capable of running something like Milon's Secret Castle -- another CNROM game that uses bank swapping for data fetching -- then you should be able to run Copper Jacket.
